Dr. Zaw Myint Maung is Chief Minister of Mandalay Region
Dr. Zaw Myint Maung is Chief Minister of Mandalay Region who is the Head of the Mandalay Region Government, which is a sub-cabinet of the Government of Myanmar and the regional government of Mandalay Region.
He graduated with a medical degree from the Mandalay Institute of Medicine in 1979. After the graduate, he worked in Sagaing Region’s Ywathigyi Hospital and served as a demonstrator at University of Medicine, Mandalay.
After he has actively participated in the 8888 democracy movement in Myanmar, he joined the National League for Democracy (NLD) led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
He was elected as a parliamentarian not only Amarapura Township in 1990 but also Kyaukpadaung Township in 2012.
In 2015, he was appointed as a Regional Chief Minister. Now, he is also Vice Chairman (2) of NLD. During this periods, he went to attend the trade fair and high-level meeting held on US, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Israel, UK and China
He is married and has two sons and one daughter.
